Our beloved mother and grandmother, Rosalie Yost Roberts, 85, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Rosalie was born in a log house on January 30, 1938, in Bancroft, Idaho, to Glenn Fred Yost and Frances Carter Yost. She grew up on the family farm just outside of Bancroft, attending school at North Gem School District #149 and graduated from North Gem High School. Rosalie then attended Idaho State University where she studied Home Economics. Later, she returned to school and studied Art History at Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon.
While attending Idaho State University, Rosalie met her sweetheart, Val Ray Roberts, and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on April 2, 1958. Beginning in 1960, they made their home in the Portland, Oregon, area where they raised their family and resided for 42 years.
In 2002, following Val’s retirement, Val and Rosalie moved to Chesterfield, Idaho, and built their dream “Round House” on land that was originally farmed by her father. Due to health issues in 2011, they moved to Ammon, Idaho. After her husband, Val, passed away, Rosalie lived alone in the Ammon home for the next 10 years until her health required her to move to an assisted living facility.
Rosalie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed knitting, indexing, playing the piano, quilting, reading, viewing old movies from the 40 and 50’s, and watching sports. She has an extensive collection of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and accessories, Ginny Dolls, and Longaberger baskets.
Rosalie is survived by her two sons, Rodney K. (Susan) Roberts of Ammon and Christian H. (Barbara) Roberts of Bancroft, ID; one daughter, Trena L. (Kim) Haws of Houston, TX; two brothers, Christian (Kara) Yost of Chubbuck and Fred (Susan) Yost of Alpine, UT; and one sister, Caroline Wakeman of Nampa, ID; 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Val Ray Roberts, and her parents, Glenn and Frances Yost.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Ammon 26th Ward, 1100 S. Tiebreaker, Ammon, Idaho, with Bishop Brian Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery at a later date.
