NICHOLS IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ronald John Nichols, 69, of Idaho Falls, died March 26, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1932 in Burley, Idaho to Harry Leonidas Nichols and Edith Lorraine Bartlett Nichols. He moved to Idaho Falls as a child, graduated from Idaho Falls High Schooland has lived here since. He then served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California. He married Nelma Baird December 2, 1954 In the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She passed away March 27, 1985. He married Jane Scott Gillenwater Pierotti March 3, 1989 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She preceded him in death July 16, 1999. He worked as a Police Officer for the City of Idaho Falls for 32 years, retiring in 1990. He had also worked for various sales companies including Watkins and Fuller Brush. He was a volunteer for EIRMC from 2001 to the present. He was also a member of TRIAD and the Idaho Falls Police Association. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served in the High Priest Group, as a Stake Missionary, in various teaching positions, in Cub Scouts and as Employment Specialist. He enjoyed playing chess, spent many hours on his computer researching family history and he and his wife Jane also enjoyed traveling. Surviving are:Son: John Nichols, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Lori (Mark) Reed, Idaho Falls, IDSon: Joe Nichols, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Sara (Stan) Malm, Idaho Falls, IDSon: Mike (Collette) Nichols, Idaho Falls, IDStepson: Ted (Gwen) Buthman, Shelley, IDStepdaughter: Gina Pierotti-Buthman, Idaho Falls, IDStepdaughter: Joanna (Tom) Keller, New York, NYMother: Edith Nichols, Idaho Falls, IDBrother: Bruce (Janice) Nichols, Idaho Falls, IDSister: Lola (Evan) Petersen, Covington, WA14 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by both of his wives, his father, a sister, Normalee and a daughter, Debie. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Friday, March 29, 2002, at the Idaho Falls LDS Brentwood Ward, 2040 Brentwood DRive, with Bishop's Counselor Joe Pruitt officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
