Ronnie (Ronald) Ray Mathie passed away suddenly Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012. Ron was born Sept. 9, 1945, in Idaho Falls to Ferd Robert Mathie and Lucille Brown. Ron grew up in Ogden, Utah, and lived the remainder of his life in Wyoming and southeast Idaho. Ron was a truck driver and mechanic by trade, working hard at whatever job he did, and took great pride in his finished product. Ron met Dolores Townsend in 1976 and had a family with her; they later separated. In his early years, Ron enjoyed spending time in the outdoors camping and fishing with his family, taking road trips, playing board games and overall just taking care of his family. In his spare time, Ron loved to go on hunting trips with his friends. In his later years, Ron collected quarters and loved to do word search puzzles. Ron was a good friend to many and would never hesitate to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ron had an incredible sense of humor and was always pulling practical jokes whenever he had the opportunity to. Ron was a fiercely independent person and did things the way he thought to be right. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gene Mathie, and Gene's spouse, Virginia. Ron leaves behind his daughters, Angela Mathie (Madrigal) and Jenine Townsend; grandchildren, Sicily Mathie, Micaela Degrat and Robert Degrat; stepchildren, Kathy Townsend and Phillip Townsend; sisters, Lela (Charlie) and Ellen (Ron); brothers, Bob (Janet), Bill (Margaret), James (Pattie) and LaVere (Janet); numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. No public services will be held per Ron's request. Published in Post Register on December 22, 2012
