Ronald Bruce Lively, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 10, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Ron was born July 24, 1941, in Okemah (Rural), Oklahoma, to Shelton Lively and Molly Grace McClanahan Lively. He grew up and attended schools in Oklahoma. He served with honor in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed overseas. His last duty assignment was HHB 94th Artillary Group. He was awarded The National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal Marksman (Rifle) Expert (Carbine). He attended Clatsop County Community College in Astoria, Oregon where he received his Associates Degree of Applied Science in Electronic Engineering Technician. Ron had a variety of careers during his lifetime. He worked for Boeing as an Electrical Engineer assigned to the Supersonic SST Project. He received numerous trainings and certificates for television broadcast and worked for KCPQ 13, KIRO News 7, and Clover Park Technical College. He also worked for the King Dome managing all of the broadcasts for their various functions and was instrumental in getting the first Mitsubishi Jumbotron installed in the United States. He believed strongly in education and changed careers becoming the Vice President of Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington, where he enjoyed getting together often with the students and positively impacting many lives. The highlight of his career was meeting The President and Mrs. Reagan in 1988 at The White House in recognition of his service for Public Broadcasting and Member Stations. He was an avid car mechanic and loved his ‘89 red Mustang and ‘02 black Ford Lightning. He was a member of The Pierce County Mustang Club in Washington and enjoyed restoring Mustangs with his son and grandsons. He had a gun and knife collection he was proud of and enjoyed collecting coins with his grandsons and his special friends. He was an author of books (soon to be published), was an avid reader, and loved sunsets, of which he had hundreds of photos. His main love and joy was spending time with his family, friends, and longterm pets. Ron was a devout Lutheran. He was loved dearly and will be missed immensely by all of his family and friends. Ronald is survived by his son, James (Debra) Lively of Idaho Falls, ID; grandsons, Devin J. Lively and Landon P. Lively of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Shelly L. (Michael) Lively-Warner of Lacey, WA; brother, James Kelland (Deborah) of Seminole County Wewoka, OK; brother, Dwight of Seminole County Wewoka, OK; brother, Dwayne of Dolores, CO; and many nieces and nephews whom he cherished. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelton and Molly Grace Lively; and six siblings, Glenn, Violet, Liv (Junior), Dale, Romey, and Catherine. Private family services will be held at a later date.
