EVANSTON, WY -- Ronald Alfred “Ron” Bates, 53, of Fort Bridger, Wyoming, died November 24, 2007, in Evanston, Wyoming of injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born December 4, 1954, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Alfred Reed Bates and Marjorie Christiana Freeman Bates. He attended O.E. Bell Jr. High and Skyline High Schools.
He married Sheri Lynn Fanning in Idaho Falls. They were later divorced. He moved to Fort Bridger, Wyoming, in 1994 to raise his sons, who were the joy of his life. He worked as a mechanic for Snake River Equipment, owned and operated his own mechanic shop and also worked in various construction trades throughout Idaho and Wyoming.
He played the drums with bands in Idaho and Wyoming.

Sister: LaRae (Richard) Brinda, Bloomington, MN
Sister: Sandra Bates, Idaho Falls, ID
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Berry Kent Bates, Dougy Bates, Bobby Bates and Roger Bates.
The family will visit with friends Thursday night from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls.

Ron was my birth father. Due to life's circumstances I only met him once. I am so glad I had that opportunity. I am so sad to hear he has passed on before I was able to know him better. My deepest sympathy to his family.
