Roger Susumu Mayeda, 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 29, 2015, at his home.
Roger was born October 8, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Isamu Mayeda and Kimiye Sato Mayeda. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1967.
Roger served in the U. S. Army from 1968 to 1971 as a SPC-4 in the Vietnam War, and received several heroic awards, including the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device for ground combat heroism. He enlisted in the Idaho National Guard from 1980 to 1982. He actively assisted during the Teton Dam Flood in 1976
Roger worked at the INL, for Leonard Petroleum, and at Basic American Foods. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, his friends, and had a big heart for everyone.

sister, Jayne H. (Neal) Campbell of Idaho Falls, ID,
sister, Rosemarie (Ray) Vianello of Idaho Falls, ID,
sister, Sarah (Jim) Maas of Boise, ID,
sister, Carolyne Kahakelii of Honolulu, HI,
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, who both passed away in the 1970s, as well as a nephew, Jimmy Maas, and a niece, Tara Mayeda.
Memorial Services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Rose Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Dan Kishiyama officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
