Roger Floyd Jones, 72, of Ammon, passed away February 17, 2017, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Aspen Home Health and Hospice. Roger was born December 31, 1944, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Floyd C. Jones and Virginia Panting Jones. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, including O.E. Bell Jr. High and Idaho Falls High School. On December 29, 1978, he married Donnie Cox in Jackson, Wyoming. He was a loving father to his three children, Roger, Merle, and Peggy. Roger and Donnie made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where Roger worked as a mechanic. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood and leather working. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Donnie Jones of Ammon, ID; son, Roger Tory (Laura) Jones of Ririe, ID; son, Merle (Nancy) Potter of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Peggy (Walter) Thornock of Ammon, ID; 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Virginia Jones, sister, Jolenne McArthur, and grandson, Chris Thornock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the Ammon LDS 10th Ward, 4375 East Sunnyside Road, with Bishop Greg Johnson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scenic Falls Credit Union, Sunnyside Branch, 1530 Elk Creek Drive, Idaho Falls, ID 83404.
