Roger Ausmus

Roger Allan Ausmus, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 13, 2016, at his home.

Roger was born September 19, 1941, in Cambridge, Ohio, to Fredrich Ausmus and Clara Maude Jacobs Ausmus. He grew up and attended schools in Cambridge, Ohio and graduated from Cambridge High School.

He was married to Dorothy Maurine Nielson for 27 years. Roger was loved by Dorothy and her 5 grown children; Faith, Bob, Renee, Rick and Gil. Roger and Dorothy made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Roger worked in maintenance for KID. He also worked in construction and drove truck. Dorothy passed away on September 30, 2004.

Roger came from a very proud military family, where all four brothers and two sisters served in the military. He served for the US Marines, earning the ranking of PFC and earned his Rifle Marksmanship Badge.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Roger enjoyed fishing, camping and was lucky in the lottery.

Roger is survived by his step daughter, Faith (Jon) Erickson of St. Anthony, ID; step daughter, Renee (Rowland) Sucher of Idaho Falls, ID; step son, Rick (Phyllis) Huntsman of South Jordan, UT; sister, Betty (Bob) Slay of Cambridge, OH; brother, John (Theresa) Ausmus of Spokane, WA; 19 step grandchildren, 31 step great grandchildren, 3 step great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Dorothy Maurine Ausmus, sisters; Kay DeHart, Margi Maxon, Lois Hissom, brothers; Kenny Ausmus, Jim Ausmus, Bob Ausmus, and stepsons, Bob Wallace and Gil Fuger.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Ave.)

Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team.

Graveside Services will be held
