Rody Alden Cummings Sr.

Rody Alden Cummings, 86, of Blackfoot, passed away May 1, 2026, at his home. He was under the care of Alliance Hospice.

Rody was born November 26, 1939, in Bell Center, Ohio, to Clarence Cessna Cummings and Opal Belle Kaylor Cummings. He grew up in several communities in Ohio before moving to Arco, Idaho at the age of 11. He graduated from Arco High School.

Rody married Vicki Lee Taylor. They had four children and were later divorced.

On May 19, 1989, he married Jonell Rogers in Blackfoot, Idaho. Rody and Jonell made their home in Blackfoot, Idaho, where Rody worked as a safety compliance engineer at ISU.

He enjoyed antique hunting everywhere including on special trips to Montana (for more antiques).

Rody is survived by his wife, Jonell Cummings of Blackfoot, ID; son, Rody A. (Heather) Cummings, Jr. of Boise, ID; daughter, Cindy (Brent) Young of Burley, ID; daughter, Carolann Lilya of Burley, ID; son, Jon Cummings of Pocatello, ID; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kirk Leonard Cummings; a grandson, Rody Alden Cummings, III; and ten siblings.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7 North 700 West, Blackfoot. The family will visit with friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Chesterfield Cemetery.
