ROCKY ARAVE ISLAND PARK, ID - Rocky Lee Arave, 54, long-time Shelley Resident, died September 22, 2005, in a drowning accident in Island Park, Idaho. He was born July 19, 1951, in Idaho Falls, to Don Edwin Arave and Marilyn Hudman Arave. He attended Jameston Elementary, Shelley High School and Ricks College. He married Nanette Blake in May, 1974, and four children were born to this union. She preceded him in death December 24, 2000. He worked as a laborer for Rogers Brothers for many years, then as a mechanic for Bechtel Corporation. He married Margaret Norton Gardner August 31, 2002. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple February 14, 2004. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a primary teacher, scout leader and High Priest leader. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, playing games and attending auctions. He was a kind and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are: Wife: Margaret N. Arave, Shelley, ID, Son: Blake (April) Arave, Shelley, ID, Daughter: Makayla (Jed) Dansie, Heyburn, ID, Son: Cody Arave, Shelley, Stepdaughter: Melanie (Shane) Bennett, Meridian, ID, Stepson: Tim Gardner, Challis, ID Brother: Don “Eddy” Arave, Shelley, Brother: Duke (Lita Jo) Arave, Shelley, Brother: Scott Arave, Silt, CO Brother: Eric (Thamor) Arave, Draper, UT, Brother: Cory (Ilene) Stolworthy, Idaho Falls. Sister: Patti (Bo) Darden, Dillingham, AK, Sister: Stacy (Ted) Cox, Shelley, Sister: Tammi (Alan) Dial, Shelley 8 Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nanette, a daughter, Kara, three sisters, MeriLynn Stolworthy, Dixie Ann Arave, and one who died an infancy, and his father-in-law, James Blake. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2005, at the Shelley LDS South Stake Center, 675 S. Milton Avenue, with Bishop Shawn Leckington officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls, and Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
