Robert Leonard White, 66, of Shelley, passed away September 18, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice and his loving family.
Robert was born November 2, 1956, in San Diego, California. His parents are Robert Leonard White and Anna Edwards White. He has three brothers, Joe, Richard, and Frank, and one sister, Anna (Sis). He attended Riverside Elementary, O.E. Bell Jr. High, and Idaho Falls High School.
Robert joined the Army in April of 1974, and he spent time at Ford Ord, Fort Belvoir. He went to Vietnam for two months, then was transferred to Fort Richardson, Alaska. He was a generator equipment operator/maintenance. He loved traveling around Alaska. He said he'd be proud to serve again.
He married his junior high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Tamara Jean Hale, on September 16, 1977, in Ammon, Idaho. They met in first hour Math at O.E. Bell and dated for five years before getting married. They were blessed with five wonderful children, Nicholas R. White (Jen), Brandy Ann Jones (Bruce), Jamie Lynn White, Christine Nicole Winters (Chris), and Stevie Nancy Claxton (Will). Robert's world revolved around their 15 grandchildren; 3 step-granddaughters; 3 great-grandchildren (with 1 due in December); and 3 step-grandchildren.
He loved to work on cars, fish, and camp. When his children or grandchildren helped, he was in 7th heaven. Robert was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 1, 1978.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Coulter; father-in law, Gerald M. Hale; and sister-in-law, Trudy Hale.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Taylor Cemetery, 720 East 129 South, Idaho Falls, Idaho. A Celebration of life will follow for family and close friends at the Mountain View Ward, 675 S. Milton Avenue, in Shelley, Idaho.
He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.
