Robert Scott, 86, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away of cancer on July 3, 2022, at Lincoln Court.
Bob was born on October 5, 1935, in Villisca, Iowa, to Robert Scott and Ruth Fryer Scott. He graduated from Villisca High School and continued his education at the University of Nebraska where he graduated in 1959.
Bob married Beverly Browne in Omaha, Nebraska. They had two daughters, Deborah and Karen.
Bob received employment with Phillips Petroleum at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). He was involved with SPIRT-ONE and early computer data analysis gathering.
Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors in Idaho skiing, fishing, camping, and mountain climbing. He was a Judo instructor for the YMCA and a ski instructor at Kelly Canyon. He loved history and astronomy.
Bob later moved to Minneapolis with Control Data Corporation where he worked in Europe installing computer data centers. He later moved back to Idaho Falls and finished his career at the INL. He bought a small farm and enjoyed raising sheep, chickens, dogs, cats, anything that wanted to stay.
Bob married Evelyn Beckstead Heyrend. They enjoyed traveling and went to Europe many times. Bob remained close to Evelyn’s three boys, Bran, Randy, and Trad Heyrend, until his death.
After Evelyn passed away at an early age, he married Renate Scholten, who had also lost her husband. Renate was from Germany, so they made frequent trips to Germany.
Bob is survived by his wife, Renate; daughters, Deborah Jordan and Karen Lawrence; his brother, Bill Scott; three grandchildren; one great grandson; and several step-children.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2022, at Fielding Memorial Park.
