ROBERT "BOB" POLLOCK
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Robert David “Bob” Pollock,
87, of Idaho Falls, died February 13, 2005, at Life Care Center of natural
causes.
Bob was born April 28, 1917, in Gilmore, Idaho, to Matthew
John Pollock and Lillian Headla Pollock. He attended grade school in Gilmore
and Arco, Idaho. He moved to Idaho Falls, where he grew up, attended O.
E. Bell Junior High and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. During
his high school education in Idaho Falls, he lived with John “Pop”
Bartlett. He served in the U. S. Army from 1941-1945 during World War
II.
On August 31, 1946, he married the love of his life,
Lyn McGlochlin and they made their home in Idaho Falls, where he worked
as a policeman for the City of Idaho Falls. He served as Idaho Falls Police
Chief from July 9, 1964 to January 17, 1987, when he retired.
Bob was very active in civic affairs. He received the
coveted Liberty Bell Award on Law Day in 1974 for outstanding service
to his community and the rule of law. He served as President of the Idaho
State Police Officers Association; was a graduate of the FBI Academy;
was a graduate of the Law Enforcement Polygraph School; Chairman of the
Bonneville County Red Cross; Ski School Director for Taylor Mountain and
Kelly Canyon; was certified for deep water scuba; was a member of the
Masonic Lodge, and active in the Shriners. He was an avid sportman and
enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles and scuba diving.
Surviving are a niece, Lila Cochran of Idaho Falls, a
nephew, Douglas Bacharach of Tallahassee, FL, a sister-in-law, Joyce Morcom
of Visalia, CA and her family, and Bob’s adopted family, Roger (Pat)
Cox and family, Shelley, ID. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lyn,
his parents, a sister, Helen, and a brother.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February
18, 2005, at Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls. The
family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood
Funeral Home.
The family will also visit with friends Saturday, February
19, 2005, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Schwab Mortuary in Thayne, Wyoming. Following
the services, burial will be in the Thayne Cemetery, with Military Rites
performed by the Star Valley Veterans Memorial Team. Services are under
the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
