Robert Michael “Mike” Piper, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 2, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital surrounded by his family.

Robert was born September 15, 1939, in Glendale, California, to Robert Clarence Piper and Gladys Maxine Kitchin. He grew up and attended schools in Glendale and attended Montebello High School. He served in the United States Navy.

On December 4, 1965, he married Marjorie Ruth Lyons in Las Vegas, Nevada. Robert and Marjorie made their home Los Angeles for 30 years and then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1995 to be closer their two granddaughters.

Robert worked as a welder for most of his life. He was very artistic and worked on numerous projects including some aerospace designs.

He enjoyed being outside, fishing, hunting, motorcycling, and camping with family and his close friends. He also never turned down a sweet treat or a black cup of coffee.

Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Piper of Idaho Falls, ID; sons, John Piper of Los Angeles, CA, Mark (Kim) Piper of American Falls, ID, and Ron (Michelle) Piper of Los Angeles, CA; and granddaughters, Nico Piper and Maya Piper of Boise, ID.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Piper; mother and step-father, Maxine and Ray Gant, Sr.; brother, Ray Gant; and sister, Gayle Gutierrez.
