Robert Miller

Robert Albert Miller, 90, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away November 3, 2011, at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Center. Robert was born February 18, 1921, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Zin Lavern Miller and Eugene Ana Vickrey Miller. He grew up in Ashton and graduated from North Fremont High School. Following high school he served as an airplane mechanic in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. On October 12, 1945, he married Nina Hemming in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah, for eight years, then moved to Great Falls, Montana, where they lived for 18 years. They lived briefly in El Paso, Texas, and Los Angeles, California, before retiring to Idaho Falls 33 years ago. Robert worked for General Motors for 31 years. After retiring at age 55 he worked at Paramount Supply in Idaho Falls for 25 years. Robert served as President of the Weisman Club (WMCA) in Montana, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking, and was very handy. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nina, a daughter, Linda (Jim) McVay of Charlottesville, VA; five grandsons, Peter McVay, Clay (Heather) McVay, Chris (Heather) McVay, Derek (Jacklyn) McVay, and Michael McVay; a granddaughter, Mary Ann McVay; and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Miller, and a sister, Gwen Gygli. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Newell Walker , officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Wood East Side. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard. The family would like to especially thank Aspen Home Health and Hospice and Mount Vernon Care Center for their kindness and caring during Robert’s last days.
