ROBERT "BOB" MATHIASEN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Robert “Bob” Mathiasen, 71, of Idaho Falls, a former New Sweden Farmer, died April 20, 2002, at EIRMC of a stroke.
Bob was born May 25, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ingvard and Elna Andresen Mathiasen. He attended New Sweden elementary school and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1949. During the Korean War he served with the U. S. Army Amphibious Engineers.
On December 28, 1952 Bob married Deloris (Dee) Jorgensen in the Mission Covenant Church, also in Idaho Falls. They lived in New Sweden, where he farmed until he semi-retired. He continued farming part-time for WR Farms.
Bob was a life long member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served for 21 years on the West Side Soil Conservation District. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 56.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dee; sister, Dora [Robert] Evans, Idaho Falls, son, Tony Mathiasen of Kentucky, daughters Trisha (Rocky) Storer, Terri (Derk) Duncan, Robin Dee (Ted) Freeman, all of Idaho Falls. Grandchildren are Stormi Middleton, Rick and Kristine Storer, Crystal and Waylon Duncan, Colt and Ciara Terrillion, and Cayd Robert Freeman. Three step grandchildren, Shanna, Hailey, and Nick Freeman.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Andrew & Elsie Jorgensen.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 455 West Sunnyside Road, with Pastor Alton Johnson and Chaplain John Piirto officiating. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in the Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial of your choice.
Trisha & family, I am so sorry for your loss. My Heart & thoughts go out to you.Just so you know who I am I went to school with Trisha, my Maiden name was Bradley. We went to New Sweden together.
