BOB MARKIN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Robert W. Markin, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 9, 2008, at his home. He was under the care of his wife with help from Idaho Home Health and Hospice.
Bob was born August 22, 1932, at Clarion, Iowa, to Walter Markin and Ethel Longeway Markin. At a very early age, he lost both of his parents. His Uncle Elmer and Aunt Vera Jabens became his new Mother and Father and they raised him as their own child.
Bob graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After leaving the Army, he then attended the Elgin National Watch College at Elgin, Illinois. He graduated as a certified master watchmaker.
His love for hunting and fishing brought him to the west. He accepted a job in Pocatello, Idaho at Morgan Jewelry. He furthered his education at Idaho State University (I.S.U.) and he also obtained his private pilots license.
Bob married Carma Goldman January 19, 1968, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He started his own watch repair business in Idaho Falls after his marriage.
The family built a cabin in Island Park (close to West Yellowstone) and his family has very cherished memories spent there in the summer and winter. The past few years he has enjoyed going to Mesa, Arizona, for the winter months.
