Robert Kimball, 87, of Ammon, passed away April 27, 2016, at The Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center. He was under the care of Encompass Hospice.

Robert was born December 29, 1928, in Ogden, Utah, to William Kimball and Dorothy Vail Kimball. He grew up and attended schools in Evanston, Wyoming, and Salt Lake City, where he graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School. He also attended Idaho State University and earned a Master’s Degree in Geology. He served in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a Major in the Special Forces and a Green Beret.

Robert lived in Soda Springs, Pocatello, and Nampa, Idaho, and worked for Simplot as a geological engineer.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and horses.

Robert is survived by his son, Kim (wife Doris) Kimball of Sealy, TX; son, Mark (wife Neena) Kimball of Mesa, AZ; grandson, Michael Justin Kimball of Sealy, Texas; grandson, Chase Kimball of Mesa, AZ; granddaughter, Jordyn Perkins of Mesa, AZ; grandson, Brayden Kimball of Provo, UT; granddaughter, Haley Kimball of Mesa, UT; and grandson, Bridger Kimball of Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William, Arthur, Roland, Michael, and Eddie Kimball, and a sister Kay Kimball.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Jon Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:00 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ogden City Cemetery in Utah, at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon. Military rites will be performed by the United States Army Honor Guard.
