ROBERT MEAD, JR.
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Robert William Mead, Jr., 79, of Idaho Falls, died June 25, 2007, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Robert was born July 22, 1927, in Upland, California, to Robert William Mead, Sr. and Gertrude Ellen Bowcutt Mead. He grew up and attended schools in Huntington Beach, California, and later received an honorary diploma from Idaho Falls High School because of his sacrifice and service in the U. S. Navy. He served as a Seaman Second Class during World War II and was honored with the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Robert married Betty Rose Ball January 1, 1950, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He worked as a land and cattle foreman for Borchard, was a mechanic for Caterpillar, and then farmed in Ririe until his retirement six years ago. They lived in California from 1953 to 1967, then made their home in Ririe until 1999, when they moved to Idaho Falls.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Robert enjoyed puzzles, gardening, fishing, and reading.

Brother: Gene Mead of Iona, ID
Sister: Mary Tennison of Athens, TX
11 Grandchildren & 12 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Debi (Jennings) Skidmore, a brother, a sister, and a great grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 290 – 7th Street, with Pastor Jerry Reinke officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Thursday for one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.

We are so sorry for your loss and that we didn't hear of it in time to attend the services. Please let your family know of our sincere condolences and that we feel so bad for your loss. He was sure a great man and left quite a legacy for all of you to follow and be proud of. I thank him for his contributions in sacrificing such a great part of his life in serving our country with such dedicated efforts.
