BOB JAHN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Robert Grant "Bob" Jahn, 89, of Idaho Falls, died January 30, 2007 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 31, 1917, at Idaho Falls, to Deidrich "Dick" Jahn and Mildred Martin Jahn. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1935. While in high school, he was a member of the basketball and track teams and served as a studentbody officer. Following graduation, he worked at Bonneville Auto. He also served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
On January 16, 1944, he married Lucille Dixon in Idaho Falls. He farmed in the New Sweden area for approximately 70 years. He also had a large cattle ranch in the Kilgore area. He had been past director and president of the Bonneville County Cattlemen Association, served three years as a director of the Idaho State Cattle Association, and was Bonneville County Director on the Animal Damage Control Board for the State of Idaho. He had been a member of the Community Hospital Board for 5 years. For 20 years, he served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Martin Canal Company which was named for his grandfather who was the project engineer. In 1996, he was inducted into the Eastern Idaho Agriculture Hall of Fame.
He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years and a member of the Elks Lodge for over 70 years where he served in numerous positions including State President of the Idaho State Elks Association. He received the Elk of the Year Award and was a member of the Idaho Elks Hall of Honor.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Among Bob's many interests were skiing and bowling.

Son: Bradley (Juliana) Jahn, Boise, ID
Daughter: Pamela (Thomas) Lyon, Caldwell, ID
4 Grandchildren & 1 Great Grandchild
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carroll.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2007, at the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street, with Reverend Dr. Dennis Falasco officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be at a later date in the New Sweden Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Center (600 North Robbins Road, Boise, ID 83702).
