Robert Paul Howard

Robert Paul Howard, 75, of Iona, passed away December 14, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Robert was born October 25, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Robert Earl Howard and Peggy Lee Gardner Howard. He grew up and attended schools in Raytown, Missouri, and graduated from Raytown South High School. He joined the United States Air Force in 1968. He served honorably and received two Purple Hearts, among other awards. He retired from the Air Force in 1988. He lived in Wichita and returned to Missouri, until he finally moved to Idaho Falls in 2010.

He married Kenna Laureen Peirsol on August 28, 2012, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Robert and Kenna made their home in Iona, Idaho.

After retiring from the military, Robert worked as a fireman. He also worked as a truck driver for Morrow Express.

He enjoyed camping, casinos, and the mountains. He adored all little children. He had many friends and enjoyed joking and telling stories. He never met a stranger.

Robert is survived by his wife, Kenna Howard of Iona, ID; son, Robert Joseph Howard; step-son, Brandon (Heidi) Peoples of Riley, KS; step-son, Nathan (Shanaya) Peoples of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Janice (Patrick) Miller of Louisville, KY; sister, Patricia Parker of Kansas City, MO; 2 granddaughters, Lorelei and Selena; mother-in-law, Dolores Peirsol of Ammon, ID; and his dog, Piper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Peggy Lee Howard.

A gathering will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road in Ammon, Idaho. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Air Force Honor Guard at 3:00 p.m.
