Robert Alton Gunderson

Robert Gunderson, a devoted father, grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away on March 18, 2026.

Robert was the proud father of four daughters, whom he loved deeply and protected fiercely until his very last breath. Being a dad was the role he cherished most, and his girls were the center of his world. He showed his love not just in words, but in the way he lived-always present, always protective, and always putting his daughters first.

He was known for his incredible sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a prank to make those around him laugh. He had a gift for turning ordinary moments into something unforgettable, especially for his girls. He was always trying to make life more magical and fun for them.

One favorite memory that captures who he was took place on Halloween. It was already dark and trick-or-treating was coming to an end, and the girls were walking back to the house with their friends. In an effort to keep the Halloween spirit alive, Robert hid and then suddenly growled before jumping down from the balcony dressed in a bear suit, scaring them all. It was moments like these-full of laughter, surprise, and love-that defined the kind of father he was.

Beyond his humor, Robert was a deeply kind and caring man. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, never hesitating to help others. His generosity and selflessness left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Robert had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with horses, and found peace in the mountains. He knew the draws and trails like the back of his hand and loved spending time hiking or taking long drives just to take in the scenery. The outdoors was where he felt most at home.

Those who knew Robert will remember his strength, his loyalty, and the way he made people feel valued and cared for. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of security to those around him.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Manuel) Tapia, Danielle Gunderson, Jessica Gunderson, and Robyn (Kensey) Stephens, along with many friends and family members who will miss him deeply.

A private family memorial service will be held, with details to be announced at a later date.

He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
