Robert Charles Eliasson

Robert Charles Eliasson, 95, formerly of Desert Hot Springs, California, passed away on July 17, 2025, at the Gables of Ammon. He was under the care of Enhabit Hospice.

Bob was born June 20, 1930, in Iron River, Michigan, to Charles Eliasson and Marie Greenlund Eliasson. He grew up and attended school in Iron River, and graduated from Bates Township School.

Bob was proud to have served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He later attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering, receiving an Associate Degree in Radio-television Technology.

In 1955, he married Lillian Timmons of Wisconsin. Together, they had three children, LeeAnn, Don Paul, and Teri. They made their way with stops in between to Idaho Falls where Bob worked at “the Site” west of Idaho Falls where he helped install and maintain computers for Control Data Corp. Bob and Lillian later divorced.

Bob’s job moved him many places over the years. First to Salt Lake City, Utah, then to Minneapolis, Minnesota, followed by St. Louis, Missouri. In 1978, he was offered a position in Vienna, Austria. Prior to moving abroad, he married his long-time lady friend, Carmen Grifford. They made their home in Vienna until 1982. They returned to the U.S. and moved to Southern California. They later divorced.

Bob finished his career with Control Data Corp. as a district manager in Los Angeles, California. He retired at the age of 58. He moved to a house on the first fairway of Mission Lakes CC in Desert Hot Springs, California.

Bob split his time between Mission Lakes and Iron River, Michigan. He golfed in the winter and fished in the summer–the two great loves of his life.

In 2021, Bob relocated to Idaho Falls so that he was closer to his children and so they could assist him in his “golden years.”

In all his travels, he met many people he called “friends.” He was well loved and could always put a smile on everyone’s face. He had an infectious laugh and loved telling jokes.

He is survived by his children, all of Idaho Falls; his brother, Richard “Dick” Eliasson of Florence, WI, along with many nieces and nephews; and his long-time lady friend, Marty Wilson of Iron River, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Condolences may be sent to the family here or whenever you’re out golfing or trying to catch a fish.
