Robert "Bob Clements" Clements

Robert Eugene “Bob” Clements, 76, of Ammon, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at his home. He was born September 18, 1934, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Clifford Clements and Maurine Bybee Clements. He was raised in Lincoln, Idaho and attended Bonneville High School. Bob joined the Air Force, working in cryptography at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. As part of his training, he spent a year in Labrador. He married Betty Jenson on March 25, 1954, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Texas for a year and then finished his service in Washington D.C. They developed many great friendships while in the service. After returning to Idaho Falls, Bob worked for Western Airlines for a short time. Thereafter, he spent most of his career at Smith Chevrolet in Idaho Falls and Hirning Pontiac in Pocatello. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Ammon, ID; six children, Pam Ferguson of Ammon, ID; Peggy (Bryan) Davenport of Chubbuck, ID; Robert (Connie) Clements of Rigby, ID; Paula Clements of Salt Lake City, UT; Tricia (Larry) Pahl of Salt Lake City, UT; Michael (Lorraine) Clements of Reno, NV; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie (Leon) Lowe of Lincoln, ID; Beth (Norm) Lish of Golden, CO; Faye (Roger) Monson of Leadore, ID; Sherry Kirtley of Lincoln, ID; and his brother, Dale Clements of Layton, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Maurine, a son, Robert Michael Clements, and a great grandson, Ian Pearson. Bob loved sports and played baseball, football, and basketball for Bonneville High School. He also enjoyed bowling and worked with the Junior Bowling Association. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren as they participated in all their activities. He was there as often as possible. Bob was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was dedicated to the responsibilities of the positions he held. He served as Bishop and Stake President in the Rigby Idaho Stake. He and Betty served in the Pocatello Idaho Mission office. They also served as full-time missionaries on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, in addition to serving a mission in the Family History Center in Pocatello, Idaho. Bob wrote that happiness comes through serving our Heavenly Father. Bob was a wonderful son, brother, husband, and father. He was a friend to all those who knew him. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at the Ammon LDS 23rd Ward, 4030 John Adams Parkway, with Bishop Chad Murdock officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
