Rita Ann Giuliano Manginelli, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. She was under the care of Encompass Home Health.
Rita was born June 13, 1921, in New York, New York, to Nicholas Giuliano and Carmela Volante Giuliano. She grew up and attended schools in the Bronx, New York, where she lived for 26 years. She also lived in Santa Monica, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; Thousand Oaks, California; and Idaho Falls, Idaho, for the last 24 years.
On April 5, 1942, she married Nicholas Daniel Manginelli in New York City. While her husband served in Europe during World War II, she worked as a “Rosy the Riveter” in a defense plant. To this union were born two children, Barbara and Steven. While Rita and Nicholas made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, she worked as a grocery clerk at Albertsons.
She was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church. Rita’s life was dedicated to her family, which included her many nieces and nephews. She had the ability to make anyone she was with feel special. Her children and grandchildren brought her great joy.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Barbara Manginelli of Oroville, CA; son, Steven (Cheryl) Manginelli of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Nicholas (Jean) Giuliano of Newbury Park, CA; 3 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nicholas Giuliano; mother, Carmela Volante Giuliano; husband, Nicholas Daniel Manginelli; sister, Ann Cassa; sister, Tilly Campolong; sister, Rose Chisari.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, 1690 East 17th Street. The family will visit with friends prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Rita Manginelli Memorial Fund at U. S. Bank, 585 1st Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
