Ricky "Rick Layne Nisson" Nisson

Ricky Layne Nisson, 61, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 23, 2011 at his home. Rick was born May 11, 1949 in Idaho Falls to Frank Ray Nisson and Evelyn Lorraine McDaniel Nisson. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Hawthorne Elementary, O.E. Bell Jr. High, and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He continued his education at Idaho State University. He married Jana Gordon in Pocatello in 1969. Together they raised Derek and Tiffany. They were later divorced. On March 17, 1988, he married Pauline Ostler in Idaho Falls together they raised Becky and Kent. Rick worked as an installer for Kenny Harker, and he managed Nisson Tire and Minute Lube. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ricky enjoyed stock car racing, NASCAR, and collecting coins, comic books, and baseball cards. He loved his Harley bike, fishing and camping and spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Pauline of Idaho Falls; son, Derek (Leah) Nisson of Pocatello, ID; daughter, Tiffany (Michael) Ortiz of Blightwood, South Carolina; daughter, Becky (Stewart) Thornley- Lusk of Rexburg; son, Kent Ostler of Ashton; daughter, Brandy Kay Nission; 13 grandchildren; and his brother Kerry Lee (Leslie) Nisson of Idaho Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Terry Ray Nisson. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., prior to departing for the cemetery.
