Richie Rowberry

Richard "Richie" William Rowberry, 35, passed away January 13, 2017, from complications of a prolonged illness. Richie was born January 12, 1982, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Rick and Jan Rowberry. He grew up in Iona and graduated from Bonneville High School where he played and excelled in basketball, baseball and soccer. He attended college at BYU-Idaho and University of Idaho. Richie’s passions in life were his son, Drayden, his family, his friends and sports. He was passionate about BYU football, the Chicago Bears, LA Lakers and Oakland A’s. He loved to analyze, dissect and talk about sports, and formed many close and long lasting relationships through this love. He was adored by many people and was continuously making new friends. Richie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called to the Kobe, Japan Mission when he was 19 years old. Due to a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, which plagued him his entire life, he had to leave the Missionary Training Center and was unable to complete his mission as he had planned. The happiest day in Richie’s life was the day his son was born. He loved being a dad and cherished the time he had with Dray. Rich had a loving, gentle disposition that caused children to gravitate towards him. He was a wonderful father, uncle, brother, friend and son. His smile and humor will be missed by many. He was often the life of the party but also had a tender heart and was always willing to help others. Richie is survived by his son, Drayden Richard Rowberry; parents, Rick and Jan Rowberry of Iona, ID; siblings, Britney (Ben) Wall of Lehi, UT, Hailey (Skyler) Jenkins of Iona, ID, and Riley Rowberry of Provo, UT; nephews, Eli, Blake, Griffin, Treyton, and Archer; and niece, Byntlee. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who loved him dearly. Richie was preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents, Bill and Pat Denning of Iona, ID, and Dick and Myrna Rowberry of Idaho Falls, ID. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the Iona LDS Stake Center, 7555 North 55th East, with Bishop Hal Schofield of the Iona LDS 2nd Ward officiating.
