Richard Alan “Dick” Yamasaki, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 13, 2026, at his home. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Dick was born August 2, 1950, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Sam Hiroshi Yamasaki and Sally Akiko Shoda Yamasaki. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School. He graduated from the Utah State University and Idaho State University.

Dick made his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he worked in information technology at the Idaho National Lab.

He was an active member of the Idaho Reining and American Stock Horse Associations. He was inducted into the IDRHA Hall of Fame. He enjoyed fly fishing, horses, photography, and gardening.

Dick is survived by his brother, Gerry Yamasaki of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Susan (Steve) Gihring of Idaho Falls, ID; niece, Emilee (Kurt) Heilman of Idaho Falls, ID; nephew, Jeffrey (Hope) Gihring of Idaho Falls, ID; grandnieces & grandnephews, Alexis Heilman, Nash Heilman, Axel Heilman, Norah Gihring, Emilia Gihring, and Ethan Gihring.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ted Frank Yamasaki.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Snake River Animal Shelter.
