IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Richard Allen “Dick” Shumaker, 76, of Idaho Falls, died January 9, 2007, at his home from cancer. He was under care of Alpine Hospice.
He was born October 1, 1930, in Worland, Wyoming, to Ethan A. and Leta Grabel Shumaker. He attended schools in Worland and Phoenix, AZ graduating from high school and attending Fullerton Junior College in Fullerton, California.
He married May Joan Plunkett October 20, 1954, in Phoenix, Arizona. They have lived in Idaho Falls for 45 years and were members of The First Church of the Nazarene. He owned Shumaker Construction and was a building contractor who was known for his meticulous attention to detail. He was a member and former President of the Eastern Idaho Homebuilders Association.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, hunting and all outdoor activities with his family and friends whom he often entertained by playing the harmonica and the accordian.

Wife: May Shumaker of Idaho Falls
Daughter: Pamela Jean (Joe) Reiman of Albuquerque, NM
Daughter: Gloria Jean Vega of Arlington, TX
Son: Alan Lee Shumaker of Port St. Lucie, Florida
Sister: Ruth Prachiel, Pahrump, Nevada
15 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grand-children. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers, a grandson and a great granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007, at The First Church of the Nazarene, 1900 Grandview Drive, with Pastor John Sweeney officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side, 963 S. Ammon Rd., and also Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
