DICK SAYER
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Richard Henry “Dick” Sayer, 69, of Idaho Falls, died June 13, 2005, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of complications from a bleeding ulcer.
Dick was born October 22, 1935, at Idaho Falls, to William Henry Sayer and Ora Hodge Sayer. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1953. He then attended the University of Idaho and obtained an Associates Degree in business.
He married Elsie Putnam September 8, 1956, in Idaho Falls, and they were later divorced. He married Louise Phillips November 21, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He started working with his father and brothers in Willie Sales, the first Jeep dealership in Idaho Falls. Later, partnering with his brother, Ron, they owned and operated Sayer Brothers for many years. He worked as a Real Estate agent in Island Park and with Sayer Realty. He owned and operated Palisades Lodge in Swan Valley, then for many years, owned and operated Dick Sayer Used Cars in Idaho Falls.
He was a member of the Idaho Falls Church of Christ. Dick enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, cooking, gardening, snowmobiling, and was a car enthusiast. He was previously a member of the Elks Lodge.
His grandchildren and great grandchildren were one of the great joys of his life, as were his three “babies,” Princess, Balto and Tiger Cat.
Always a father who gave us his wisdom. By his example, he taught us to have strength, courage, compassion and kindness.

Grandchildren, Shastille (Ryan) Ballard, Ryan Michael Sayer, Dustin, Dylan, and Tyler Gifford, and great grandchildren, Sadee, Nicky, Jack, and Madi Ballard. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Vicki Lyn Sayer, four brothers, Max Ellison, Hodge Ellison, Gary Sayer, and an infant brother.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2005, at the Church of Christ, 2650 Plommon (off of South Bellin Road), with Pastor Mike Tkachyk officiating.
The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
