Richard Poll Phillips, 89, of Idaho Falls passed away October 26, 2011 at his home. He was born September 21, 1922 in Ucon, Idaho to Joseph Milton Phillips and Charolette Louisa Poll Phillips . He was their third child. Richard had an older brother William and 2 sisters, Leah and Erma and a brother Stanley. The family lived in Ucon while the children were growing up and he had many friends. Richard spent a short time at Ricks College. He was called to serve a mission to the New England States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his 2 year mission, he was drafted into the Army at Fort Douglas, Utah in October 1944. He served during World War II during the European Theatre. He was honorably discharged in 1946 in Fort Lewis Washington. After his duty in the Army, Richard joined his father and William working on the family farm in Ucon, Idaho. He married Eva Bair on March 12, 1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and together they raised their family. In 1955, they purchased a farm in Roberts, Idaho and resided there for many years until they moved to Idaho Falls to retire in 1989. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Chorister, High Priest Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and Stake Mission Leader. He loved missionary work and spreading the gospel. He enjoyed camping, playing the organ, singing, and spending time with his family He is survived by: His wife, Eva of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Dennis ( Barbara ) Phillips of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter Connie ( Dean ) Pierce of Des Moines, WA; Son, Kim ( Delsy )Phillips of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, Stanley Phillips, WA; Brother in law, Albert Bair of WA; 12 Grandchildren and 11 Great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William, and two sisters, Leah Cleverly and Erma Thompson Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. the LDS Skyline Ward, (2345 W. 17th South) with Bishop Kirk Larsen officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00-10:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery. Veterans rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
