IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Richard William Murdock, 65, of Idaho Falls, died February 15, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 23, 1942 in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Vandis Richard Murdock and True Vilate Price Murdock. He attended Groveland Elementary and graduated from Blackfoot High School. He attended two years in the Vocational Technical Department at Idaho State University. He served an LDS mission to Southern California. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He married Arlene Rutt on May 2, 1966 in Tom Green County, Texas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Blackfoot where he worked as a computer operator for Garrett Freight Lines in Pocatello. He later worked in the custodial department for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with responsibilities at the St. George and Idaho Falls Temples. In 1991 they made their home in the Idaho Falls area.
He was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions including Ward Clerk, High Councilman, Scoutmaster, and Financial Clerk. He enjoyed family history work, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

Sister: Linda Murdock, Blackfoot, ID
Sister: Lona Murdock, Blackfoot, ID
Sister: Della (Duane) Resare, Santaquin, UT
12 Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at the Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Tim Orchard of Ucon LDS Yellowstone Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park and Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.

Words can not fully express the sorrow we feel over the loss of Uncle Richard. He lovingly teased me all my life & we had our thing whenever we saw each other. I'd say "Hello Old Man!" and he'd say "Hello there good lookin'!" His gentle ways and kind spirit will never be forgotten!

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Richard. He was such a wonderful man. Kirk enjoyed working with him in the bishopric. We are sorry we missed the funeral. We did not see the obituary in time.
