Richard "Dick" John Watson

Richard “Dick” John Watson, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 15, 2024, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.

Dick was born September 30, 1939, in Warren, Pennsylvania, to Albert John Watson and Marian Eleanor Hyde Watson. He grew up and attended schools in Warren, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Warren High School. After high school, Dick joined the US Army and served his country during the Vietnam War.

Dick married Okhyun Sung on June 14, 1961, in Seoul, Korea, at the Seoul American Embassy. They were blessed with two children. On April 11, 1990, he married Linda Mae Cooper in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Dick and Linda made their home in Ucon, Idaho, where they retired.

He was affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dick enjoyed tying flies, gardening, hiking in the mountains, and target shooting. He was also an avid reader.

Dick is survived by his wife, Linda Mae Watson of Idaho Falls, ID; two sons, Jeffrey John (Paula Whipple) Watson of WA, and Keith Edward (Nichole Ionica) Watson of NY; step-daughter, Kathy (Lew) Kelso of UT; step-daughter, LeAnn (Rod) Harris of Ammon, ID; step-son, Scott (Jenna) Gilbert of Idaho Falls, ID; step-daughter, Julie (Jerry) Severe of Terreton, ID; sister, Donna (Harry) Motter of Dunedin, FL; one granddaughter, Krista Watson of CT; 8 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Military Honor Guard.
