Richard Lynn Haderlie

Richard Lynn Haderlie, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 18, 2024, at his home. He was under the devoted care of his wife, Monna, many family members, neighbors and friends, and a special heartfelt thanks to those from Nuclear Care Partners and Aspen Home Health & Hospice. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Richard was born on August 1, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to David William “Dick” and Marian Ivy Lee Haderlie. He grew up and attended schools in Iona and Ucon and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1958.

He married Monna Mickelsen, the love of his life, on September 18, 1958, in the Logan, Utah Temple. Richard and Monna made their home in Idaho Falls.

Richard was employed with Wonder Bread in various positions for 25 years. He was also employed as security at the INL for 15 years.

Richard and Monna loved to travel and visited many destinations, including Europe, China, Mexico, and Canada. They also loved cruising with friends. They wintered in Yuma, Arizona, for 20 years where they met many lifelong friends.

Richard loved working in his yard daily. He would often spend hours surveying his kingdom. He was an excellent gardener and loved woodworking in his shop. Richard’s life was marked by his deep love for family, community, and the simple joys of life.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Bishopric and Temple Ordinance Worker.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Marian Haderlie; sisters, Sharon Rockwood and Daveen Lanier; brother, David Haderlie; parents-in-law, Royal and Helen Mickelsen; and brother-in-law, Kent Mickelsen.

Richard’s memory lives on through his wife of 65 years, Monna Haderlie; his children, Diana Gardner, Brenda (Mitch) Berger, Douglas Haderlie, Bruce (Holly) Haderlie; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren, with one on the way.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Iona 2nd Ward, 7555 North 55th East, with President Tyson Hackbarth officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
