Richard Edward Burke

Richard Edward Burke, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 24, 2021, from injuries sustained in a four-wheeling accident near his home.

Richard was born April 15, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Richard “Rich” Burke and Irene Gentle Burke. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho Falls High School.

On August 25, 1956, he married Audrey Jean Empey in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Richard and Audrey made their home in Idaho Falls where Richard worked as a bus driver for the Idaho National Lab. After his retirement, he drove truck.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings, and especially enjoyed serving as a scout leader, working with the youth. He loved hunting, fishing, horses, and farming.

Richard is survived by his loving children, Michael Burke of Rock Springs, WY, Koreen (Jim) Horrocks of Price, UT, Matthew Burke of Idaho Falls, ID, Sherry (Sam) Becker of Vancouver, WA; sister, Margaret Rollins (Kim Hainline) of Wittmann, AZ; aunt, Velma Webster of Austin, TX; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rich and Irene Burke; wife, Audrey Burke; sister, Marilyn Kerns; and brother, Victor Burke.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2021, at the Ledge Rock Ward, 7118 S. Ledgerock Drive, with Bishop Cade Baldwin officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
