RICHARD L. BROADHURST
LIFELONG IDAHO RESIDENT WAS 88
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Richard LeRoy Broadhurst died in Idaho Falls, Monday, June 8, 2009, at 10:15 a.m. at Idaho Falls Health & Rehab.
He was born September 12, 1920, at St. Anthony, Idaho, the third son of Richard L. and Edna M. Godfrey Broadhurst, descendants of early pioneer families in Fremont and Madison counties.
He attended school in St. Anthony and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the outbreak of World War II, serving with the Medical Corps of the 41st Infantry Division in the South Pacific.
He returned to marry Hazel Valtinson July 21, 1945, at Salt Lake City, Utah, and afterwards was employed in Boise and Idaho Falls. In 1958 he began a career with the U.S. General Services Admin., and was for many years the well known manager of the Federal Building in Idaho Falls – retiring in 1984.
He was a fisherman and wild game hunter, winning several archery contests during the 1950s and '60s. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and amateur guitarist, taking a special interest in traditional and western American music.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, and son, Alan, who continue to live in Idaho, as well as his son Dale, and daughter, Joan, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with his sister, Myrtle McNee.
Graveside Services with Military Rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the Parker Cemetery.

Hazel . . . so sorry to hear of Richard's passing. I know you will miss him. The ladies who love to chase him will miss him. He was always only true to you. We will miss him too. What a handsome young man he was . . . and a distinguished older one, too! Warmest and heartfelt wishes.
