RICHARD P. BALL REXBURG, ID -- Richard Phineas Ball, 74, of Rexburg, died October 23, 2005, at Madison Memorial Hospital after a short illness with cancer. He was born March 6, 1931, at Idaho Falls, the second child of Phineas and Mabel Andrus Ball, and spent his childhood in Ammon. He joined the Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he returned home and completed his high school education, graduating from Bonneville High School. While working in Ogden, Utah, he met Donna Mae Young and they were married on August 2, 1952. They lived and worked in Salt Lake City, Idaho Falls, and later in Southern California. After their retirement, they moved to Golden Valley, Arizona. Donna died October 29, 2002. He moved to the Rexburg area last month, to be closer to family. He is survived by three children: Eldon Ball of Idaho Falls, David Ball of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Patricia Spallino of Lancaster, California; and by 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Colleen Cook of Portland, Oregon, Sharon Hobley and Gary Ball, both from Rexburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his oldest son, Richard, and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2005, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) with Gary Ball officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
