Rhea (Pack) Elswood

Rhea Elswood, 96, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on November 24, 2024, at Rigby Lake Assisted Living.

She was born February 2, 1928, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Freeman Pack and Edna Barker Pack. When she was 3 years old, her family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she completed all of her schooling.

Rhea married Merrill Elswood of Shelley, Idaho, in 1944. They had four wonderful children, Paul, Pam, Patty, and Perry. After Merrill’s return from the service, they lived in Idaho Falls and Jameston, Idaho. They divorced in 1965. She moved to Shelley, Idaho, where her girls finished school.

She returned to Idaho Falls, Idaho. She worked for three years for the Idaho Department Store on 1st Street. She then worked for several trucking companies and retired in 1991 with Edwards Brothers Trucking after 16 years. While working, she purchased a home in Idaho Falls and took care of her mother for six years until her mother needed more care and moved into a rest home.

She enjoyed ceramics, jigsaw puzzles, counted cross stitch, and making quilts.

After retiring in 1991, Rhea sold her home and moved to Teton View Senior Housing where she lived for several years. She then moved into Rigby Lake Assisted Living until her death.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; only brother, Dan Duane Pack, wife, EJ; youngest son, Perry Elswood in 2008; daughters, Pamela Elswood Hewit in 2015 and Patty Moore in 2021; and grandson, Travis Moore in 1971.

She is survived by her son, Paul (Gloria) Elswood of Shelley, ID; son-in-law, Ross (Patty) Moore; nieces and nephews; 7 grandchildren; her great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Rhea had a wonderful life with her family who took great care of her and took her to a lot of breakfasts and lunches.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, 4600 S Yellowstone Hwy.
