Reula Southwick

Reula Arveta Mickelsen Southwick, 79, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away December 16, 2017, at her home. Reula was born November 11, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Reuel Willard Mickelsen and Josephine Arveta Andrus Mickelsen. She grew up in Iona and attended schools there, including Bonneville High School. She also attended Eastern Idaho Technical College, where she received a CNA and Health Physicist training. On October 26, 1955, she married James Henry Southwick in Iona, Idaho. To this union were born five children, Susan, Pamela, James, Michael, and Eric. Reula and James made their home in Ammon and Reula was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. James passed away February 20, 2017. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as Ward Music Director, in the Relief Society and Primary Presidencies, Cub Scout Den Leader, and served a full-time mission with James to the Idaho Falls Temple Visitors Center, She was a member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Idaho Falls Music Club Choralaires. She enjoyed music, reading, family history, crocheting, quilting, APPLES, and she loved her grandchildren. Reula is survived by a daughter, Susan (Vince) Bodily of Idaho Falls, ID, a daughter, Pamela (Marc) Kelly of Moore, ID, a son, James "Jim" (Carolyn) Southwick of Ammon, ID, a son, Michael (Cindy) Southwick of Layton, UT, a son, Eric (Kimberli) Southwick of Ammon, ID; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017, at the Ammon LDS 8th Ward, 2055 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Marshall Riggs officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
