Reta Aleen Landon Kennel, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 12, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was under the care of her loving family.
Reta was born January 22, 1937, in Taylor, Idaho, to Henry R. Landon and Althora Gene Martin Landon. She grew up and attended schools in Osgood and Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
On March 1, 1958, she married Edward Lee Kennel in Osgood, Idaho. To this union were born five daughters, Vickie, Catherine, Deborah, Lori, and Jeanette. Reta and Edward made their home in Idaho Falls, where Reta was a loving wife and mother. She worked for Bonneville School District #93 for over 20 years.
Reta was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various positions including: visiting teacher, Primary teacher, Primary President, Young Women Camp Director, and Relief Society 2nd Counselor. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning, and serving others.

daughter, Catherine E. (Blair) Petersen of Idaho Falls;
daughter, Deborah (Kurtis) Skaar of American Falls, ID;
daughter, Lori (Brian) Whitmer of Everson, WA;
daughter, Jeanette (Cindy Adamson) Kennel of Rigby, ID;
brother, Amle (Barbara) Landon of Ririe, ID;
brother, Dennis (Iris) Landon of St. George, UT;
brother, Verle (Donna) Landon of Idaho Falls;
sister, Raola Myler of Wapello, ID;
sister, Loma Landon of Nanimio, Canada;
sister, Shanon Franck of Idaho Falls;
sister, Sharon (Gary) Shults of Idaho Falls;
11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Althora Landon; husband, Edward Kennel; brothers, Derwon, Irvin, and Alden Landon; sister, Peggy Wilson; and grandchildren, Jacob Webster and Loren Webster III.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS Willow Creek Ward, 6925 North 15th East, with Bishop Jason Hales officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
