Rena Horton Pedersen, 68, of Idaho Falls passed away suddenly Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born November 24, 1945, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Edwin Marian Horton and Virginia Carolyn McClurkin Horton. She grew up in Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Kentucky, and began her career teaching high-school theater in Virginia. On March 1, 1975, she married Robert Charles Pedersen in Newport News, Virginia, and had two children, Robert and Rachel. In 1983, the family moved to Idaho Falls. Rena was dedicated to her family and her community. Never meeting a stranger, she was quick to welcome and was loyal in her friendship. She gave her time and energy leading Girl Scout troops, helping in classrooms, working with Presbyterian women, and more. For the past decade, she found a new calling as the church secretary at First Presbyterian, a job that she loved and served diligently. She loved the opportunity to live her faith and serve her church family. Her energy, love, and spirit will be greatly missed. Rena is survived by her husband, Bob of Idaho Falls; Son, Robert, wife, Randi Pedersen of Middleton, Idaho; Daughter, Reverend Rachel Pedersen of Bloomington, Indiana; She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street. The family will visit with friends following the service.
