Ren Bishop Sr

Ren Jeffrey Bishop Sr., 66, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 3, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.

Ren was born March 16, 1950, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Robert Jean Bishop and Dorothy Grimmett Bishop. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho Falls High School.

On July 25, 1969, he married Sharlene Lockyer in Seattle, Washington. To this union were born four children, Ren Jr., Nicole, Cheris, and Jared. They were later divorced. He lived briefly in Blackfoot, Seattle, and California. Ren made his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he worked as a master craftsman building homes.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, outdoor sports, and hunting. He loved Island Park and the outdoors. He was a creative writer and enjoyed music. Ren was a pilot. He loved painting. He had a special place in his heart for dogs.

Ren is survived by his son, Ren J. (Tamera) Bishop, Jr. of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Nicole (John Chandler) Bishop of Austin, TX; daughter, Cheris (David) Robinson of Nampa, ID; son, Jared (Janiel) Bishop of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lucinda Huddleston; sister, Cynthia Bishop of Ogden, UT; sister, Barbara (Randee) Baldwin of Nampa, ID; sister, Patty (Royce) Smith of Draper, UT; brother, Robert S. (Teresa) Bishop of Toquerville, UT; 15 grandchildren; and his dog, Lucky.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bishop, and mother, Dorothy Bishop.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
