Reeve Ernell Norman, 81, of Ammon, passed away January 17, 2013, at his home surrounded by the family he loved.
Reeve was born January 29, 1931, to Sharon Adriel Norman and Alvera Oliver Norman in Fairview, Utah. Reeve grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School.
He served a full-time LDS mission in the Western Canadian Mission. When he arrived home from his mission, the U.S. Army met him at the train station with draft papers.
Before leaving for military duty, he married his childhood sweetheart, Doris Brown, on March 9, 1953, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Reeve served honorably with the army in the Korean War. He attended the University of Utah and worked for American Smelting and Refinery and Westinghouse Electric. In 1960, he moved to Idaho Falls as a branch manager for Westinghouse Electric. Later, he helped establish Electrical Wholesale Supply Company and became part owner. He was a vital part of Electrical Wholesale Supply for over 50 years, and developed many close friendships with his co-workers and customers.
Reeve was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings for the church. He was a Scout Leader, teacher, Bishopric member, High Priest Group Leader, temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple, and Stake Mission Leader. He and Doris served as missionaries in the New York, Rochester Mission, and at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. Reeve enjoyed spending time with his family, cars, hunting, camping, hiking, boating, snowmobiling, and riding horses. Reeve and Doris enjoyed traveling to many places around the world with friends and family. Some of their best memories are of the family reunions at Bear Lake and the annual Christmas party.
Grandpa Reeve will be remembered as “young, tall, slim, good looking, with lots of black curly hair, intelligent, witty, and as never embellishing the truth.”
