Reed F. Brinkerhoff

Reed F. Brinkerhoff passed away peacefully on March 25, 2022 at the age of 64, in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Reed came out a hero, and stayed strong until the end.

Reed was born March 27, 1957, in Murray, Utah, to his mother Melba Jean Brinkerhoff, and his father Floyd Reese Brinkerhoff. He is one of six siblings Brent, Larry, Chris, Paul, and Michelle.

As a child, Reed loved tubing to Murray Park, playing basketball, baseball, and football with the neighborhood kids, and little leagues until the end of high school. After high school, he got a job in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in construction. At the age of 18 he made the long trip to Houston, Texas. His job then took him state to state, and he enjoyed the new jobs and areas.

Reed was doing a job in Salt Lake City in the Fall of 1983, where he met the love of his life Mina Lynne Hall. They were married February 22, 1986, and they were devoted to each other for 36 years. After the loss of their triplets, the strength of their love continued to grow. After the birth of their first daughter Aleda Lynne Brinkerhoff, they bought a fifth wheel, and traveled from job to job. They faced many trials together including the passing of their daughter 3 months later. They continued on strong together moving on to their next destination to Globe, Arizona, where they had their son, Jason Reed Brinkerhoff. Shortly after, they moved to Elko, Nevada. They settled down, and completed the family with their daughter, Rachelle Jean Brinkerhoff. As their children grew, they built their dream home, and created many memories together as their family love grew stronger.

Reed was an electrician at Barrick Goldstrike where he worked for 30 years. He worked hard to build a life, and provide for his family. As a family, they enjoyed time in Island Park, Idaho. Reed loved being at the lake. More than anything, he had a big love for fishing. If his keys are missin', he's gone fishin'. He found his greatest joy in spending time at the lake with wife, kids, and grandchildren. He enjoyed his trips up to Washington, where he would go fishing with his buddies. Reed was always thinking of others, and quick to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone. He was "Mr. Handyman." If something was broken, he was always quick to help fix it. His legacy will be defined by his courage, strength, resilience, and optimistic attitude. He will be incredibly missed.

Reed is preceded in death by his parents, Reese and Melba Brinkerhoff, and daughter, Aleda Lynne. He is survived by his wife, Mina Lynne; son Jason Reed (Keisha); daughter, Rachelle Jean (Kolbey); and 4 grandchildren.

Reed will be honored with a viewing from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 4, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue Idaho Falls, Idaho. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. A gathering of remembrance will conclude, following the burial, at 3839 E. 12 N. Rigby, Idaho.
