Beloved wife, mother and grand-mother Rayola Carpenter McBride graduated from this life on February 8, 2017. She passed peacefully at home before watching Dr. Phil and enjoying her root beer float that Wednesday. Rayola was 85 years young.

She was born in Basalt, Idaho on June 3, 1931, as the fifth of nine children born to Elizabeth and George Loren Carpenter.The most beautiful girl in Idaho, Rayola spent her childhood working hard on the family farm in Osgood, Idaho, where she met her future husband Calvin McBride. Calvin was her best friend Alene's older brother. On July 18, 1950, Rayola and Calvin were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

As a young couple, Rayola and Calvin served a mission together for the LDS church in Askoy, Minnesota. After returning from their mission, they began raising their family which grew to include six children. In 1966, Calvin and Rayola moved to Sparks, Nevada. As an accomplished musician Rayola helped her husband in the family business at C&M Music Center.

Rayola had a great sense of humor and loved spending time at get-togethers with family and friends. Rayola loved music and in 1984 she graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno where she majored in music and minored in English. She played the organ for many local events.

Rayola served as a president of Nevada Music Teachers Association and will be remembered for instilling the love of music to hundreds of her piano students. Many of her students stayed in contact with her through the years.

Rayola was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin, and daughter Rita Schroeder, as well as her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by her children, Roxanne Milich, Brian and Jill McBride, Tru-di Milligan, Blair McBride, and Holly and Russ Smith, and her foreign exchange son, Roberto Moreas, from Brazil. Rayola has nineteen grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

A funeral celebrating her life will be held Saturday February 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the corner of Rock Blvd & North McCarran in Sparks, Nevada.

A visitation will be held in Idaho Falls from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, for family and friends. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
