RAYMOND B. WILSON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Raymond Brown Wilson, 97, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 27, 2005, at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living Center. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice. He was born November 20, 1907, in Ogden, Utah, to Elbert Fairchild Wilson and Annabelle Brown Wilson. He grew up and attended schools in Ogden through 9th grade, when he had to quit to support his parents and siblings. He married Afton Elizabeth Thatcher March 3, 1939, in Beaverdam, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized April 21, 1950, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They made their home in Logan until 1950, when they moved to Blackfoot for a year. In 1951 they moved to Idaho Falls, where they have lived ever since. He worked for Steiner American Linen Supply for 43 years until his retirement. Afton passed away May 8, 1995. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in the Elders Quorum Presidency and in the High Priest Group Leadership. He was a member of the Idaho Falls Lions Club. He was a member of the Gem State Writers Guild and was the Idaho State 1st Place winner in 1987. He was named Gem State Writers Guild Poet of the Year in 1991-1992. He loved woodworking and writing poetry. Surviving are: Daughter: Marilyn Hoit of Kent, WA Son: Stephen R. (Linda) Wilson of Ferndale, MI Son: Randall P. (Gloria) Wilson of Iona, ID Daughter: Kathleen (Dan) Kiester of Portland, OR 20 Grandchildren & 20 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, seven brothers and sisters, Elberta Critchlow, Merril Wilson, Virgil Wilson, Martha Scoresby, Joe Wilson, Thora Ward, and Marvin Wilson, a grandson, Jeffrey Wilson, and a son-in-law, Warren Hoit. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Bishop Kerry Holmgren of the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Tuesday for one hour prior to the services, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
