Raymond Edwin Gantt, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 23, 2015, at his home.
Ray was born January 27, 1933, in Blooming Grove, Texas, to George Washington Gantt and Allie Garrison Gantt. He grew up and attended schools in Blooming Grave and graduated from Blooming Grove High School.
Ray served in the United States Army as a PFC(T) and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
On June 27, 1956, he married Lucy Elvira Thornock in Idaho Falls. To this union were born two children, Lolouise and Edwin. Ray and Lucy made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Ray worked as a lineman for Mountain Bell and engineer at AT&T.
He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, snow machining, snow and water skiing, softball, bowling, golf, hunting, and four wheeling.
Raymond is survived by his
daughter, Lolouise (Rodney) McInelly of Irwin, ID;
son, Edwin E. (Anita) Gantt of Springville, UT;
6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lucy, his parents, and two brothers, Darwood Gantt and Garland Gantt.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to services. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
