Raymond Bastanero

Raymond Bastonero, 83, of Idaho Falls, died April 28, 201, at his home, the Eagle Rock Ranch, from prostate cancer. Ray was born August 22, 1927, in Peoria County, Illinois. His parents, Frank and Lucy Pasero Bastonero, were from Northern Italy and immigrated to the United States around 1903. Ray was in the Merchant Marines and was a Korean War Veteran and served proudly for his country. He worked many years in the motion picture industry, where he was the catalyst behind transporting the sets and generators needed to produce many incredible movies, such as Creator, Double Feature, Hardball, The Mysterious Two, Criss Cross, Defiance, Turner and Hooch, The Foundation, Used Cars, Obsessed with a Married Woman, Two Guys from Muck, “Frances,” Nick and the Dobermans, Hull Street High, California Fever, and the Sophisticated Gents with stars such as George C. Scott, Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn and Lindsey Wagner, to name a few. In 1984, Ray purchased a property in Idaho Falls, Idaho, which he later transformed into a very successful boarding and training facility for horses. His fascination with the American Eagle and the fact that Idaho Falls used to be called Eagle Rock led him to name this incredible property the Eagle Rock Ranch. Survivors include: Sister, Esther Miller of Peoria, IL; Sister, Lucille Harczuk of Tucson, AZ; Niece, Janet Nelson of Peoria, IL; Nephew, David Bastonero of Canton, IL; and Nephew, Michael Miller of Marion, IA; Stepson, Gary George of Idaho Falls, ID; and Stepdaughter, Bobbette Gauss of Idaho Falls, ID. 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ricky Bastonero, and five brothers. Funeral Services will be held at Abts Mortuary in Pekin, Illinois.
