Ray Kent Spaulding, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 18, 2017, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. Ray was born March 6, 1929, in Burton, Idaho, to Earl Eli Spaulding and Gladys Thomason Spaulding. He grew up and attended schools in Ririe and graduated from Ririe High School. He was previously married and had three children. On August 4, 1961, he married Carol Berntson in Jackson, Wyoming. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 26, 1990. Between them, Ray and Carol had six children, Derri Dee, JuDee, Rick, Lynette, David, and Doug. In his early years, Ray farmed for two years in Blackfoot and then made his home in Idaho Falls. He owned his own trucking business and was a bus driver for the INL for over 30 years. With his passion for cars, he was part owner of C&C Auto until he fully retired. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various capacities. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles, snow machines, cars, camping, flying airplanes, singing, and was a history buff. Dad loved to travel and traveled to such places as New York City, Washington, DC, New Orleans, Canada, Paris, France, Fiji, and Lebanon. Ray loved his family and will be greatly missed. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol Spaulding of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Derri Dee (Stewart) Shumway of Logan, UT; daughter, JuDee (Bill) Reed of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Rick (Renae) Landon of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lynette (George) Saadeh of Foothill Ranch, CA; brother, Vance Spaulding of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Lavonna (Bob) Perry of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Brent (Rilla) Spaulding of Rigby, ID; sister, Charla Mae (Stan) Jacobson of Rigby, ID; brother, Errol (Sharon) Spaulding of Ririe, ID; 22 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, David and Doug Spaulding, grandson, Rob Barnett, sister, Rosalee Warnick, and brother, Blair Spaulding. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Idaho Falls LDS 2nd Ward, 885 South Boulevard, with Bishop Justin Manwaring officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
