Raymond Jennings “Ray” Pullen, 88, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away April 22, 2012, at his home at Bonaventure Living Center. Ray was born November 6, 1923, in Russellville, Arkansas, to Denny Allison Pullen and Selma Dixon Pullen. He grew up and attended schools in Arkansas. He served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended Idaho State University and graduated from their School of Pharmacy in 1950. Later that year he moved to Idaho Falls and worked as a Pharmacist at Skaggs Drug Store, then for Cliff Kirkendall. Ray started The Prescription Center in 1958. He successfully operated The Prescription Center for over 30 years. The Prescription Center building on Placer Street in now owned by the Presbyterian Church and is used to house the Food Bank. Ray established a scholarship at the ISU College of Pharmacy. He was active in local and state professional pharmacy organizations and served on the Dean’s Advisory Committee at ISU. On October 14, 1944, he married Joan Windom in Quero, Texas. Joan passed away January 29, 2009. Ray was a very active member of First Baptist Church. He was a lifelong member of the Idaho Falls Rotary Club, serving as District Governor in the 1980s and heading up many local service projects for that club. Ray and Joan attended several International Rotary Conferences. He served on the United Way, and Community Hospital boards. Ray enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. Ray is survived by Son, Dennis Pullen of Boston, MA, Son, Gary (Stacy) Pullen of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Lisa (Mark) Cowley of Shelley, ID; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ivon Pullen and Ralph Pullen. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls, with Reverend Tom Wylie of the Idaho Falls First Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
